TV Is Ruining Your Life - - You Can Change This!

TD>

This interesting article describes the experiences of a family that chose to give up TV.

They experimented with ceasing to watch it during Lent of 1995, and chose to continue. They found it time consuming and controlling, and they made the conscious choice not to live their lives watching other people live.

They have never seen a reality show, which came about after they stopped watching.

The cable company at first thought they were joking, and the representative told them, "you can't live life without TV." And they have cut themselves off from a common bond that connects many people in society.

But they chuckle when they hear friends complain about television, and also complain that there is not enough time to accomplish everything they want to. They feel their family is closer, and talk and read more frequently than they would otherwise.

First of all if you didn't see the lead story in the last newsletter on the true purpose of TV please do as it is worth the read and the video is excellent.

I can empathize with this family's choice to give up their television, because I once chose to do the same the thing. In fact, it was several years after George Bush won his first presidency before I ever saw him speak.

Although I obtained cable TV service a few years back, the primary purpose was to get my high speed internet service (the price was the same with or without cable TV). Now, I watch perhaps 3 to 4 hours a month, and more than 90 percent of my TV time is spent watching health videos I need to review.

As the article discusses, it is very clear the powers that be are using television to influence the minds of the public for their own purposes.

Fortunately, we have access to the Internet and people, especially many younger folks, are radically decreasing their TV time and shifting over to the Web, which is far more difficult for the interests for the powers that be to control.

Of course, television can also have adverse effect it can have on your child's health, and limiting TV time can help prevent the spread of childhood obesity. In addition, decreasing TV decreases consumer debt, so the process is every bit as valid for adults as it is for kids.

So if you're really concerned about your children's health, and your own pocketbook, consider these 20 practical alternatives to TV.
