One of the most exciting tools that I have learned in medicine involves
the ability to gather information about some of the foundational causes
on why people get sick. These tools rely on using the body's energy circuits
and the autonomic nervous system (ANS).
What is the ANS? It is the part of our brain that is responsible for controlling
many varied aspects of our health. It controls our breathing, heart rate,
sweating, digestion and all vital functions. If this system is impaired
or not functioning properly, there will be major dysfunction in the body.
The tools involve determination of the factors that are blocking energy
in the autonomic nervous system. This is done by stressing the body with
challenges and determining if there is an effect on the flow of energy in
the ANS. There are many issues that can cause the ANS to not function properly.
Most are included in this group:
- Jewelry including glasses, watches, and beepers
- Food Allergies
- Psychological Issues
- Spiritual Issues
- Dehydration
- Nutritional Deficiencies
- Heavy Metals
- Infections
- Geopathic Fields
- Electromagnetic
- Synthetic clothing, underwire bras, cell phones, pagers
- Malocclusion
- Structural Problems
- Scars
- Reverse Organ Spin
- Solvents, pesticides, herbicides
- Toxic Nerve Ganglia
- Man made prosthesis
- Visual Issues
Measuring ANS Blockages Conventionally
There are several ways to determine if one of the above stresses is causing
a problem with the ANS. The most commonly appreciated one would be a lie
detector test. When most people tell a lie, the stress causes their sympathetic
nerves to send signals to the sweat glands in the skin. The sweat will change
the electrical resistance in the skin that will show up as a positive result
on the polygraph instrument. One can also use more sophisticated equipment
to measure heart rate variability that will also demonstrate the stresses
to the sympathetic and parasympathetic system.
The problem with these methods and others is that they are quite time consuming
and cumbersome. Although one could use equipment to measure stresses in
the ANS, they are not very practical to use for the extended number of challenges
that are typically required in an office visit.
Simpler Way to Measure ANS Blockage
Fortunately, investigators have done the hard science and validated the
usefulness of simpler and much more efficient tool to measure these changes.
The one that we use in our office is checking a person's ability to resist
a force in by holding one of their muscles straight. We generally use one
of the arm muscles, but other muscles can be used. The challenge is performed
by applying one of the items mentioned in the above list on the person's
body and checking the muscle resistance.
All the substances have specific vibrational frequencies, or pulsed magnetic
fields, which your body has the ability to recognize. Some people have a
difficult time making the logical transition, but this concept in many ways
is no different than placing a magnet on one's body. One cannot visualize
the magnetic field, but all of us would recognize and acknowledge this exists
and can have an influence on our environment.
Finding Out The Main Reason Why You Are Sick
All of the above items are checked to determine which ones are blocking
the energy flow in the ANS. Whatever is blocking the flow tends to be the
major reason contributing to the person's ill health. Having this understanding
allows us to provide a cost-effective approach that specifically addresses
the main impairments to your healing.
This is most obvious with silver fillings. Most people have them and recognize
that the mercury in the fillings does not promote health. Ideally they should
be removed in everyone. However, this can cost over $15-20,000 in some individuals
and they can simply not afford it.
Using the above-described system to check the ANS allows us to find out
if in fact the silver fillings are the big ones and absolutely need to be
removed before your health turns around. Our experience is that for most
people it is not the issue blocking the ANS. Foods, jewelry, emotions and
spiritual issues seem to be far more common reasons why people are suffering
from their chronic health issues.
I recently cared for a 30 year-old computer engineer who had a meticulously
perfect diet and had a chronic rash for ten years. He had spent thousands
of dollars on tests and doctors to try to improve his rash but all had failed.
I performed the above work with him and within two minutes found out that
oatmeal was blocking his ANS. It turned out he was eating oatmeal for breakfast
every morning. Within three days of stopping the oatmeal and doing my other
diet recommendations, his rash disappeared. Normally, the process is not
as simple and straightforward but occasionally it is.
Specific Techniques We Use in Our Office
You may have heard of the terms "muscle testing" or kinesiology before.
There are many different forms of muscle testing one can use to achieve
these results. It started in the chiropractic profession with Dr. Goodhart
who had a technique that is widely used today called Applied Kinesiology.
There are many variations that are around today.
The actual specific techniques are not critical but our therapists have
taken many of the more effective hybrids of Applied Kinesiology such as
Total Body Modification (TBM), Data Collection of the ANS (DCA), Neuro Emotional
Technique (NET), Applied Psycho Neurobiology (APN), Autonomic Reflex Testing
(ART), Psycho Kinesiology (PK), and Touch for Health. I simplify the naming
by just calling it muscle reflex testing.
Many people familiar with muscle testing ask about NAET which is one of
the more popular forms of muscles testing due to Dr. Nambudripad's book.
I have been familiar with her work since 1995, but find that it is a derivative
of TBM and most people I know who use both find TBM to be far more effective.
Different Planes Of Healing
There are several planes of healing. These include in ascending order of
priority: the physical, emotional and spiritual. If one treats exclusively
at the physical level, the results are usually temporary and short lived.
Treating at the emotional level will frequently clear not only the emotional
issue, but also the underlying physical problems connected with it. The
most profound level of healing though is spiritual, as receiving care at
that level will clear out the emotional and physical issues.
Prayer as a Healing Tool
I am absolutely convinced, without question, that prayer is the most potent
healing move one can perform. I generally advise people to journal their
prayers. Writing non-stop for thirty minutes can do this. One can also type
their prayers if that is a more comfortable format. It is not important
to save the journal. In fact, destroying the written or typed prayer immediately
after writing may decrease the fear of not saying what one really wants
to for fear of it being found. The healing comes in the writing, not the
reviewing of it at a later date.
However, it is my experience that either most people do not use this approach,
fail to use it effectively, or their prayers do not result in the healing
they seek. I have learned that one of the most profound healing strategies
next to prayer involves normalization of the body's electrical circuitry
and nervous system through using one's muscles to determine its ability
to resist a challenge that is given to it.
My journey in this alternative healing strategy began in 1998 when I took
a training course in Thought Field Therapy. This course exposed me to the
incredible healing potential that God has provided through balancing the
circuits in the brain that can contribute to many severe physical problems.
Treating the Cause of Your Illness
When I was in medical school, I was brainwashed with the drug model and
would use medications frequently for problems that primarily resulted from
emotional wounding. The drug model has come up with some effective tools
for assisting people with acute medical problems, but in my experience they
are nearly always a band-aid and rarely address the central foundational
cause of the illness.
The nervous system normalization techniques offer a completely different
approach to healing. They rely on normalizing the abnormal energy blocks
that develop as a result of the wounding that we all go through in life.
These blocks tend to short-circuit the normal energy pathways that we were
born with. This short-circuiting frequently results in the chronic health
symptoms that most of us have.
Traditional Psychotherapy
When I started down this healing path, it quickly became clear to me that
it had incredibly profound healing potential. I started to use some of the
techniques, but quickly realized that I would frequently get into emotional
wounding issues that I did not feel comfortable or well trained in addressing.
It seemed that the ideal professional for this work would be a competent
psychotherapist.
Many of you may have had less than optimal experiences with therapists
in the past, as this is quite common. Like any professional, there are good
and bad. Like traditional medical physicians, most therapists are using
simple cognitive tools that are mostly only symptomatically helpful and,
like traditional medicine, rarely address the root causes of the issue.
I need to warn you that I am exceptionally prejudiced when it comes to
conventional paradigms as I have seen thousands of patients who have been
wounded by traditional medicine. There are millions of gallbladders that
have been taken out, and millions more of ear tubes that have been inserted
when simple dietary changes would have provided nearly instant relief in
most all cases. Many also do not know that doctors are the third leading
cause of death in this country. This surprising statistic was published
in JAMA in July of 2000 and the details can be found on in
a recent newsletter article.
Fortunately, traditional psychotherapists are not as dangerous as doctors
and rarely cause this type of harm. They, in fact, frequently are able to
help people feel better. But, in my experience rarely provide a permanent
resolution of the unresolved psychoemotional conflict and trauma that cause
most chronic physical health complaints.
Emotional Wounding
Recent advancements in neuroscience demonstrate that emotions are an interaction
between chains of amino acids, which form neuropeptides, and receptors.
(See Molecules of Emotion by Dr. Candice Pert - click
here for Amazon.com link) Emotions are normal physiological processes
in the body, some of which are pleasant and others that are quite unpleasant.
These emotions are usually stored in the limbic portion of the brain.
We feel different emotions in different parts of our body in different
ways. The ancient acupuncturists correlated the different emotions to different
organ meridians in our body. For example: fear to the kidney, anger to the
liver, grief to the lungs, etc. Although the primary locations for the physiology
of emotions are in the brain, spine, autonomic nervous system, and acupuncture
circuits, emotions do affect any and all parts of the body in a physiological
way. Researchers have now demonstrated that emotional biochemicals travel
to almost every cell in the body.
Some of us believe that we can "grow out" of our emotional wounds. I am
not so certain. I once saw a 72 year-old woman who could not sleep at night
for the last 66 years because of nightmares. When she was six years old
she was several feet away from seeing a criminal shoot the face off of her
father's best friend. This trauma stuck with her for 66 years and no therapy
had been able to resolve it.
This is a form of post-traumatic stress syndrome and the muscle resistance
therapy worked beautifully to resolve this problem in one visit.
Just like this 72 year-old woman, many of us have been wounded in life.
If we are stabbed with a physical knife, we can see the wounds and sew them
up. But if someone uses an emotional knife to wound us, the wounds are not
visible to the naked eye yet they frequently cause more damage by thoroughly
disrupting the energy circuitry in the body.
I have been working with these programs since 1998 and I am convinced that
they are one of the most innovative, effective and exciting approaches currently
available to improve your health. I have been studying health and medicine
for over two decades and I have never seen results so consistently astounding.
Mechanics Of Psychoemotional Care
Most sessions are 45 minutes long and generally once a week. There is no
contract that is signed and one can attend as many or as few sessions as
one sees fit. Some patients only require one or two visits, while others,
require much longer care. However, you are always in control and if you
don't feel you are receiving benefit you can and should stop the care immediately.
Does This Really Work? It Seems To Good To Be True. What is the Down Side?
Now you may have some concerns about this type of treatment, and frankly
if you weren't skeptical I would be a bit disappointed in you. I was very
skeptical for many years, but seeing is believing which is why I am so excited
about this technique.
There are some concerns, but they relate more to the danger of the therapist
taking credit for the healing. These techniques are so profoundly effective
that some therapists fall into this temptation. This is why I have been
very careful in selecting therapists who have a strong faith and are committed
Christians. They are grounded in the understanding that they are merely
making simple corrections in the body, which allow the normal healing mechanisms
that God has provided for all of us to settle in and take the body to the
next level of healing.
Physical Care
The care can normalize the flow of energy in your body by balancing the
body's energy circuits. By using an intact muscle and body access points,
the therapist can read the functional programs of your body. By making these
simple corrections that reset the body's bio-computer you can:
- Neutralize allergens permanently
- Restore organ function
- Balance the autonomic nervous system
- Stabilize sugar metabolism
- Improve water utilization
- Normalize hormonal cycles
- Strengthen immune responses to viruses, bacteria, and parasites
Care is taken in each individual to personalize the sessions to your needs.
The goal is to uncover the underlying cause(s) to illness and poor functioning
in the body. However, it is very important that you understand your role.
The therapist can only assist your body in removing the roadblocks to improving
your health and eliminating allergies. But you will need to follow the dietary
recommendations in order to keep your blood sugar metabolism in balance.
It is also necessary that YOU be in charge of your health. There are a few
good books that can provide you with valuable information and be of assistance
to you. The following written resources are helpful tools:
- No Grain, No Sugar Cookbook-Available in our office.
- The
Blood Sugar Bible and Program, Dr. Jacqueline Paltis - Available in
our office or through Amazon.com (click link above).
- Enhance Your Life Experience, Dr. Joseph B. Strauss - Available at your
local book source.
Allergy Care
The treatments also work phenomenally well for allergy elimination. For
over six years, our office performed a very sophisticated, yet effective,
form of skin allergy testing called provocation neutralization (PN). The
technique generally improved over 80% of our patients. This is in contrast
to traditional allergy testing which usually only works on about 25% of
patients. We still use it for specially selected individuals.
I have seen many miracles with the muscle resistance testing. One of our
more dramatic examples involved a patient who had been through our PN allergy
testing program with only minimal results. She had severe asthma and a life-threatening
allergy to latex.
Since she was a nurse, this presented a major problem in her life as she
would frequently be exposed to latex and wind up in the emergency room very
close to death. In one ten minute treatment one of our therapists, was able
to clear her allergy to latex and she could now be exposed to balloons and
latex gloves and be around rooms freshly painted with latex paint without
having to run to the emergency room. This treatment profoundly changed this
nurse's life.
The Mechanics of Allergy Testing
Our main technique to eliminate and deal with allergies is called Total
Body Modification. The technique allows the therapist to generally eliminate
three allergens at each visit. It is advised to not start the work though
until one's blood sugar metabolism has been under control for two weeks.
If you have been following the diet recommended, this is usually not a problem.
There are generally 12 molds that can be treated, several types of dust,
and about half a dozen each of grasses, trees and weeds. You are also invited
to bring in samples of dust, molds, pet dander, foods and other items from
the living environment that you are having problems with.
Food allergies can also be eliminated. We have had a fair number of patients
who were chemically injured and could only eat several foods without getting
sick. The treatments were incredibly effective at removing these allergies.
You can bring the foods in to your visit and be neutralized.
This is a far more sophisticated and effective technique than skin or blood
testing which only can diagnose the problem, but are in no way ever effective
at eliminating the problem. Additionally they are generally costly and frequently
inaccurate.
