Studies have shown that aspirin may be useful in preventing strokes, heart attacks, certain cancers including breast, ovarian, esophageal and colorectal, and Alzheimer's disease.
The mechanism behind these effects is not entirely clear nor is the minimum dose needed to achieve the desired effects. Additionally, researchers are trying to determine how to assess the risks and benefits of aspirin therapy in healthy individuals.
